Bears vs The Mighty's GAME RECAP

Saturday afternoon at Anderson Park was an exciting place to be, when the Bears took on the Mighty's.
Jeremiah Batla got the start on the mound, with high hopes of helping lead the Bears to their second win of the young 2011 season.

The Mighty's however, had different plans in store.

After jumping out to an early 7-0 lead, with some timely hits, and a critical blown call by the home plate umpire, the Bears had their work cut out for them from the get-go.
Bears second baseman Keith Enockson waits for the pitch.
The Bears did a great job battling back, to tie the game, by scoring 2 in the 6th inning, and 5 in the 7th inning, but in the end they just couldn't push that go-ahead run across the plate.
First baseman Scott McIlvain had a great day at the plate, going 3-4 with a walk, and second baseman Keith Enockson went 2-4 with a fielders choice, driving in 2 runs and scoring one as well.
Jeremiah Batla pitched very well in the loss. He struck out 11, walked 2, and only gave up 2 earned runs.

As a team, the Bears had 10 hits in the game, but they were unable to capitalize on bringing runners home when it mattered most. They left 11 runners on base, ultimately aiding in the final losing effort.
Bears LHP Jeremiah Batla  fires a pitch to the plate.

This Saturday, the Bears will send RHP Steve Turney to the mound for his first start of the 2011 season.
Turney pitched 4 years at Hastings College (NE), and he'll look to continue his winning ways as the Bears will play host to the Legends.

Game time is set for 12:45 at Anderson Park in Wheat Ridge. Weather is forecasted to be in the mid to upper 60's.
